This is why you should be holding off gambling on the shit coins, very soon Bitcoin is going to drain the fuck out of altcoins.
It's been awhile since I've seen it uncorrelated, does anyone still talk sense on this board or just full of shitcoin scams? noone else noticing all the big influencers spamming "HODL" over twitter today?
Chamath the pajeet tweeted. Raoul made a vid
Is this day one of the bullmarket? needs to break $12k and stay above.
I also liked that they moved in opposite directions today, but that's far from unusual. The real correlation shows up when VIX > 30

> someone posts anything about btc.
OMG must be a maxi! Buy smaller riskier alts instead! Boomer coin!, etc. etc.
Nothing against alts. I like a lot of alt projects (eth, xmr, snx, etc.), but the frequent rage boner against BTC from newbies is ridiculous.

They'll learn. It was the same thing in spring 2017, before BTC really started to run and every alt lost 80% of their satoshi value over the following months

I've been slowly accumulating BTC over the last few weeks, bought almost $2k worth. It seems dumb though like it moves 3% in a day after weeks of crabbing and everyone thinks its a big deal. Give me one reason why I should buy another dollar worth of BTC when FNGU is already up 400% for the year. Maybe if there was an easy way to buy and hold 3x leveraged BTC I would be more interested in it. I keep hearing that it's going to $20k+ in ~3 months which is essentially a 2x which is the only reason I've been accumulating anything at all.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Its easy to look at alts that do 100x and compare that against bitcoin that does a much smaller pump. The trick is, how are you going to consistently pick those winning alts and properly time your exit so that you actually have those gains when the bull run is over.
If 2017/2018 taught us anything, its more difficult to time these things than people realize. Its best to think about the next bear market if you're serious about investing in crypto. Invest based upon its ability to survive a 80% downturn. BTC has done this several times. A lot of alts have not faired as well. If you dont go with bigger projects at least take profits early and often.
For reference, FNGU isn't an alt coin it is a 3x leveraged ETF (technically an ETN). I would never hold any shit coins. Only crypto for me is BTC. I just am hoping I'm not burning myself in opportunity cost. I do think Bitcoin will moon but it's a matter of when and how high.
Nathaniel Watson
Ah - interesting thanks for the info I didn't realize that.
BTC will have its moment in the sun again. Its just hard to predict exactly when it gets off its ass and starts really moving.
Liam Wright
its up 4x from a few months ago.

Why isn't Algorand smack dab at the top of China's blockchain ranking? Seems kind of sketchy, esp considering BSN just onboarded Algorand. This is the most recent list, as of 2 months ago. EOS topped every other list.
this timing is everything in 2017/2018 ripple as an example was at its peak value for 4 days, nothing at that time indicated that exact dollar value was the end by the time the first move happened it was already down 50% and after that it just went into terminal decline to this day so how many speculators do you think managed to get in and out at the correct time back then

You can tell OP is a BTC maxi. I've probably been in crypto far longer than you
Landon Bell
Seems like the best thing to do is set a profit target and set a limit sell there, then walk away happy with what you've made if it executes. Watching charts and trying to time things is likely to keep you greedily waiting to catch the top and failing while it falls to almost nothing. t. missed out on six figures of unrealized gains in 2018
Aiden Butler
He might be. Moreso than this post in particular, I've been noticing the trend of BTC bashing on /biz that makes me curious as to why thats so common here. Seems like irrational hatred just like the maxis have had towards alts.
Caleb Miller
>2% move of a coordinated scam pump to lure in bulls to dump on means the asset is officially uncorrelated kek you got a long way to go to learn about these markets son

I went all in on Algo last night ($9.4k) or 30K Algo, And I've already made 12 Algo. Thats $3.50.. in like 24 hours. Uhh guys, is there a catch? Because what the fuck. That shit will add up. And if it goes to so much as $1, I'll be bringing it an extra 11 dollars a day doing absolutely nothing. I'm actually blown away.
altho very true doing this in reality when the event itself is unfolding is quite a hard trick to do in comparison to the abstract discussion of it do you have any idea what the difference in 2mil to 3mil is going to do to you if your annual income is 50k and your max saving ever where 200k
Mason Hill
Where do you normally talk with people that this qualifies as even remotely a convincing argument?
Ian Watson
I have precommitted to myself that if my portfolio ever reaches 2 million, I will sell 90% into stablecoins, and then move most of that into ETFs. 2 million is enough to retire on very comfortable. The harder part is looking at $200k and wondering if you should cut and run and buy a house, or let it ride and make it on one more 10x.
James Jackson
Like chainlink. It has survived every fud and crash for the last six months.
