I'll admit, I'm dangerously close to buying my son a 1 gram 100 Drahm gold coin.

Alright so nows a decent time to ask this question. What's the difference between an "explorer" and a "producer" of mining stocks and how does this play out when it comes to stock value? Do explorers have a goal of eventually becoming a producer? Or do they just get land, assay it, and then sell it to a new company? Im trying to figure out how to best play these stocks... Seems like these exploration companies hold land for several years and never really do anything with it..... Im worried about investing jnto "explorers" if they never actually produce anything. We want producers right?
Levi Barnes
your thinking is correct, explorers fall into two catagories, one side are exploring ground that they then prove up option, sell or get bought out by a larger company. The other side find a productive location or two, and upgrade them and find a partner to setup a mine with. Its rare that a company actually starts off with a property and builds a mine on its own as the costs are huge and regulations are bonkers. You need help and outside money to help get going.
Explorers are the backbone of mining, as they find the ground the big guys want to work. They are also the riskiest. I do try and put you guys on the better companies or pieces of ground when I can, and the market does this as well, weeding out the garbage from the companies that have a chance.
Pan man again to the rescue. I swear there needs to be a Pan Man donation fund here. If not there will be.
So whats the best way to profit off explorers and should they be avoided if you are looking to make stock gains? Is it wise to stick with producers instead? What happens if a company gets bought out when you own the stock? Does it become worthless? Do they give you a shit deal "compensation payment" or something? Im a little worried because i realized the majority of my portfolio is explorers with little producer exposure.

Anyone else hoping on a second stimulus to pass at some point just so their PM's can pump more?

You can make fantastic gains riding the highs and lows of junior explorers if your timing is right but its very risky. You need to be in tune with the projects your buying into and understand what they are doing or talking about in pressers and on the ground. Also always remember in the real world very few exploration projects become full scale mines, this is a bit off set this time around though, far more small scale projects will likely appear from this market than in previous years.
Producers are better as they have a stable income from being a producer, however remember most producers also have exploration projects on going, either for future production or with off shoots exploring territory for other plans. All of these options though are still at the whims of the metals markets and have to plan accordingly.
As for if a company gets bought out, many things can happen. Shares in the junior often get converted into shares of the new company or are compensated for in other ways. Its usually a good thing for a company to be bought out as it usually means ramped up exploration efforts on that property or bigger plans like permitting and mining.
If your concerned about your portfolio, do your research and rebuild it. I can only go so far though, do not take my words as gospel, I am only a prospector and miner. I am not the CEO or lead geo. Do your own research and decide for yourself.
did pan man ever post his updated list of miners? im done stacking physical for the moment and id like to get into a reasonably stable silver-focused junior mining company.

what do you think of tinka pan man? rn my top 3 are bhs tinka and impact. Also how about skeena?,

i am workin on it, but I am having trouble figuring out which are going to be good options in the spring. I dont want to give you guys a list that will be optimal with info I have at hand. I also dont want it too long, Its suppose to be a bite size list of interesting companies that I believe have a higher chance to make it than others.

So when is a good time to cash out on an explorer? What kind of headlines will we see drilling results? Selling of property? Mergers?
How high can explorer stocks go? I see most of them are in the dollar range while producers like first majestic are ten dollars and beyond.
Juan Garcia
Tinka is a good buy but I think there are probably better South American silver explorers. They have a good land package but I fear that covid will cause them more headaches in the coming months as well as the winter season will slow them down. Impact is a solid option, and Skeena will forever be one of my top picks for a junior explorer to invest in. They own one of canada's most productive past producing mines, and keep getting fantastic drill results.
ok before I go to bed. I really dont know how to describe this properly, but the timing is often different for each project. Often the best time to get out is after a major deal or buy out. The juniors stock will rise (usually) and if you want out than you leave on that high. There are probably better anons on here who can explain this sort of stuff, i am not in the best head space to explain this sort of stuff.
