user, I used to be like you. I wanted nothing more than a 1997 Ford Escort Cosworth. I nearly spent £25k on one but I never went through with it in the end. A year or two later I am glad to say I didn't buy it. While they *do* go up in value, you are very likely to spend up to a 3rd of the cars value in just maintenance, repairs, rare parts, proper storage ect.

I’m talking price to performance, get a Scion tC. instead of spending 35k on one car because you have other expenses other than just the car itself, (insurance, maintenance, wheels, tires, suspension, parts and a tune). Unless you plan on keeping it stock and get really lucky and buy a crisp clean condition Evo you’re still going to spend at least an extra 5k.

I also think we are early for the GBR, but I never pressed the Sell button before and I’m scared I will miss out the 2k daily green candles on the way up to 100k.
This was a local top anyway, we might go a bit down or crab, so if 30/40k is just a 5/10%, go for it, especially if it’s a classic that will not depreciate fast. But maintenance will be painfully expensive on these second hand track abused cars.
