This. Unironically food prices are a pretty good measure of inflation
m2 money supply
(((inlation))) is a snake word
to buy klirus sir
2L of Coke
remember when they used to be 99 cents
pretty much this, and cheeseburgers have tripled in price over the last two decades
median house price of the US.
CPI goy, you trust us don't you?
2020
Inflation is only a fraction of why home prices are so absurd now.
why are they
Didn't a double cheeseburger at McDonald's cost $1? It's at $2.
Price of a mchicken, it's fucked up what's happening
Came to say this.
theres also the mcdouble which has only one cheese. thats the one that was usually cheap
This
and yes.
There is a reason why the U.S. gov has excluded fuel and food prices from their inflation calculations since 1980. If you actually factor those in the actual inflation rate is much worse than what we have been told, which is why they wont tell us.
Housing prices. There is a reason they were once part of the equation but are now excluded. They are subsidized as much or more than food and gas so I don't think it's accurate to say they go up in price too much to accurately reflect inflation. The richers aren't parking their money in big macs and milkshakes. I would go so far as saying housing prices as a composite is sufficient on its own to track inflation.
How is it that hotdogs at costco and ikea are just impervious to inflation? They have to be the most stable commodity on the market
Food prices are subsidized in heavy inflation years to keep them inflated at a lower rate relative to other asset classes so people don’t realize how bad it really is. Take a look at real estate. There should probably be a basket of observable asset prices coupled with a more transparent idea of where inflation hits, which, as per OP’s question, obviously isn’t transparent as of right now.
population increase, a good amount of houses are empty because people use them as investments, corporations are buying out all the homes and apartments and charging high rent, not as many homes being built
Where do you live? I'm in Mississippi and it's $2.79, you can't even get a Mcdouble for $2 here. Curiously the bacon Mcdouble meal is a the best deal now. $5.18, though I usually get large two triple Cheeseburger meals with diet coke for $6.37/ea. Great macros and still does not break the bank. I can't eat both fries even when I try but I am still gaining weight slowly from it with the addition of a can of boiled peanuts before bed.
My gf is a fatass and eats my 2nd fries with the double bacon quarter pounder sandwich from the in app deal for only $2. I would drink regular coke but it makes me feel sick.
My dad was able to buy a 20oz Coca-Cola with a silver dime when he was a kid. Melt value of a silver dime today=20oz Coca-Cola.
came for this
mac index beautifully illustrated how cheap my time in Okinawa was to all the normalfags
Big Mac Index
This unironically
Loss leaders. What's losing a little bit from a hotdog when it gets people to sit down and talk about all the shit they want to buy that's all around them?
With population comes gdp. Houses are more inflation hedges heavily backed by government so its safer than stocks. It is a good way to match inflation and diversify a bit. Houses aren't being built because wages lag far behind inflation. Rent is high because wages lag far behind inflation. The picture is a lot more grim than people want to admit.
define inflation
define big mac. a big mac today is completely different to a big mac 2 decades ago. vegetable/seed oil vs animal fat, preservatives, size, weight etc
West coast. I haven't eaten fast food in years so I googled the price.
Man americans are dumb, cries for the PPP stimulus neet checks, when they get them; cries about inflation, muuuuh tendies n cheezburgors
A non minting commodity that is ever consumed. Before crypto not many existed. Real estate or gold works as a good benchmark though both are "minted"
