No decrease in mortality but if you are someone who does not get sick from it you can expect your hospital stay to be, roughly halved. It does not do much, and bill is about the same because they overcharged despite somehow being able to give it by the truckload to all hospitals. Turns out it's an old drug they've been shilling forever and fda always shot them down before. No change in mortality sounds like it doesn't work to me, but it does allow a higher bed turnover so it makes sense why they'd push it. Gilead finally caved and paid the special expedited approval fee to the right higher-ups and they get the rubber stamp they've been asking for for years.

Big organizations, like the media, political parties, un/who have been doing this for a long time now. They push a popular narrative. They will also with less attention push another narrative that is not so popular. Then when the popular narrative blows up and political opinion sways the other way they dig up the unpopular opinion dated way back when and say see, we told you all along. They do this along with re-editing history.

Let's be conservative and say only half are asymptomatic or have headaches for a couple days and don't bother to get tested. That means we go from like 1% dying to less than 0.5% dying from it. The difference is not from the remdesivir, but from pulling numbers out of my ass and counting asymptomatics and uncomfirmed cases with the confirmed and suspected cases. And yes, suspected cases really are counted in the statistics as covid cases for statistics and free gibs to hospitals. We are incentivized to pump the numbers any way possible.

The difference is that it wasn't an approved drug. Really groundbreaking stuff in that you usually can't do that. There are off label uses for drugs but again those are still approved drugs. Pretty much unheard-of except in academic research like mdma and psilocybin in autism or alcoholism. All ethics were bypassed for this hyped flavor of common cold, a coronavirus. Interesting precedent but nothing will come of it because it's approved now and everyone will forget it ever happened within two years.
