>be me, 24 yo europoor in Germanistan >degree in Computer Science >graduated in March >been applying for entry level jobs ever since >learning new frameworks and improving coding skills >no unique own projects completed yet >sent out 50 applications >completed several interviews >got rejected every time after that
Should I just kill myself? When they asked me how much I want I always said 50k € (near Munich) which is about $60k Should I just cut that down to 40k €? I am running out of time here and really need to get a job soon
Just get a job as an underground utilities worker. No experience needed and you'll make about 50k a year
Jordan Parker
English seems good, move to USA
Brandon Martin
BSC in comp sci? 50k € feels a lot (even for germany)...
UK itd be like £25k though. 40k € is good.
Thomas Morris
you fell for the CS meme, that's why. Market is saturated and EXTREMELY competitive.
You can start looking at different areas of the technical spectrum too, healthcare and automation for example.
40k€ entry level is surely a better target anyway, you are literally a 0 experience neet right now. After that you can move on to some other job.
Take also into consideration the work-training programmes big German companies put out, Siemens offered me a 35k€/y job with classrooms being 30% of the time in the renewable sector, and all I hold is an IT high school degree + automation maintenance certificate.
Mason Turner
Uni oder FH?
James Scott
You seem to be expecting a salary that is not commensurate with your level of experience (fresh graduate, i.e none) Lower your salary expectation (35k perhaps), get 1 year experience then you can avail of opportunities for higher salaried jobs.
Elijah Parker
>Socialist hell hole So you can get some good Gibs in Germany?
Ian Harris
Thanks for the answer. I'm gonna try that.
Brandon Ortiz
if you have a CS degree then look into jobs that you can do remotely and then look at a wider geographical location or even international, I know plenty of people here in the US with CS degrees that work from home.
Ethan Ortiz
Habe an einer FH studiert.
Jonathan Butler
50k € seems like a lot of money for an entry level position. I started at ~33k in al-Swedistan. Your wage will rise once they're sure you know what you're doing.
Juan Garcia
Dann mach den master du eule
Elijah Hernandez
same except I'm 31 and havent bothered to apply yet
Ethan Mitchell
have you considered talking to the Arbeitsamt?
Jordan Sanders
Bewirb dich in der Schweiz am Weekend kannst du ja immernoch nachhause gehn
Sebastian Edwards
Thanks for the insight! I will definitely lower my salary expectations.
Christian Adams
Good idea! I'm going to look into that deeper.
William Martinez
WTF are you talking about? I'm not even from Germany and make 80k as a JS dev in Berlin and people throw jobs at me
Sure but they wanted all the information about the income of my parents. That's not so easy right now because my parents own a restaurant. So we have some "secret" gains.
Jaxon Gray
My grades are not the best and my work experience is at zero.
Grayson Hernandez
No internship? I just learn about docker and kubernetes.maybe that helps me. Will graduate around may i hope. Want to do masters at hagen while working
Mason Edwards
Kek, you fell for a meme. Ask for 30k if you want a job, but its already to late for you to get a good job in your field. UNIs already spitted out the next wave of entry level idiots. And heres a tip for my fellow german anons, dont go studying unless you have already a job safe. Its better to make a Ausbildung/apprentice ship first and after that you can go study.
Nathaniel Myers
>>learning new frameworks and improving coding skills >>no unique own projects completed yet
just do small project with a tech you like. You like crypto? make a smart contract with some utility and publish it. You like mobile? Create an app for a coin you like that's not an erc20, like eth. You like webdev? make an app like bulksender but for multiple tokens at the same time.
These are crypto ideas because it's my thing, but you get what I'm saying. You should focus on showing results rather than academic experience. I've no degree but I was able to get my first job 6 years ago just with personal projects.
Brody Baker
do you actually like coding though? grades matter only at your first job basically.
otherwise you really might want to consider another sector, being stuck in code hell is hard if you don't genuinely enjoy it
Joshua Brown
>In Germanistan So you ate not even a Volksgenosse. Where are you from then, buddy?
Sadly no but I started to learn docker today. After that I will look into kubernetes thanks!
I have to agree with that...
Starting own projects sounds like a fantastic ideal thanks for that!
I really enjoy coding that's why I want to become a developer even if the start is going to be rough.
Angel Foster
I was born in munich and my parents are both vietnamese
Nathaniel Kelly
How could you graduate without internship? We had to do one
Logan Smith
I also studied at FH and people literally threw jobs at me. Sign up on XING and let some recruiter do the job for you. They also sort of know which salary is more appropriate for you. Keep in mind they're likely getting paid a percentage of that salary, hence they're inclined to sell you as high as they can.
Don't overdo it and only send like 1-2 recruiters your CV at first.
I did send mine to 2 and one got me 6 interviews in 2 weeks while the other didn't do anything. I told them some requirements like area, no travelling, etc. As well.
Nolan Murphy
Learn Blockchain technology unironically. Very few skilled people in this field despite all the projects with a lot of money desperately looking for engineers
Justin Fisher
Sorry your a white male. Better just start the fourth Reich cause you ain't gonna get hired.
Jaxson Robinson
user from Munich area here. Went to lmu. After master I went to away for work, after 4 years I came back. Making 80k. Start with 35-45k as you have experience. Leave after two years for an new gig and your salary will automatically rais. Btw: buy Link!
Camden Lopez
>be me >university drop out >move to berlin without a job >made bank from crypto so landlords stfu >haven't had a "real" job in 2.5 years >send 5 applications >5 interviews >5 offers >in 5 days that and the god tier degenerate women. it's fucking paradise
Brayden Scott
Do you not have a desire to go back to the land of your forebearers? Where they lived and struggled and toiled since time immemorial? Have you no roots, no honor?
Interview tips since you might seem like to botch these.
Remember that you aren't selling them your experience and skills. You're selling them the prospect of you learning and becoming a sick developer in short time.
Remember to be confident if they ask dumb questions like how much experience you have. It's totally fine in my experience to be honest and say you have very little but in university you liked this and that and that was my bachelor thesis and I'd like to dive more into x.
Try to go to an interview with the mindset that they're there to suck your cock instead of you sucking theirs. You're just as much trying to find out if their job is good for you as they are trying to find out if you'd be a good fit.
Adrian Thomas
I'm sorry I misunderstood something. I did my internship at BMW Group as a database developer for 18 weeks.
I'm only at LinkedIn and not once did I get a message...
That's what I'm doing after I get some experience thanks for that!
Dylan Gray
>FH >0 real world exp. >0 finished projects 50k? kys 40k max
