Another user pointed out that they're listed in Klaus' book on the Fourth Industrial Revolution ( ), but if one knows how that goes... they needed to list a bunch of novel tech companies as examples for their story about the future, then invited them to their program because they already knew them.
It's mostly about pulling a great show together. I got included in similar programs, had some hopes about collaboration or investments or customers, and usually nothing came out of it. Later I understood that I (like all the others) was just inventory, any deeper commitment from the attendees was merely accidental. The attendees are mostly there to network among each other, feel validated by the WEF brand and be entertained and feel important.

Got invited as speaker (emerging tech, future impact and opportunities) and panelist and presented products and businesses I was involved in. Often some upscale hotels in nice locations with plenty of discussions and attendee interaction. Once I understood my role, I managed to be paid for it.

Then I organized workshops and conferences later and understood the incentives even better. Get interesting people as keynote speakers, interesting companies to do live product demos, get a crowd of FOMOing attendees and perhaps some sponsors. The person or company that presents is secondary as long as they check the buzzword of the year and are either famous or can create a wow effect, so you don't dive too deep into a specific thing. Ask 100 speakers/companies, deal with the 10 most promising, invite the 3 that accept.

So, seems it's a big marketing and influence machine they use to help them get their tentacles into governments and corporations so they can push their ideological agenda.

WEF is basically two things. It's a brand for the outer circle to feel close to power and a meeting place for really inner circle decision-makers. Both things are rather separated. Think the tech pioneers program is somewhere to in between to showcase to both, but it's no deeper commitment or even long-term collaboration.

I should add that this outer circle stuff came later, after the WEF (like the Bilderberg Meetings) received increasing public criticism of being a secretive club where powerful people meet outside any documented and accountable framework. They turned it around, created the brand and opened it to the "civil society" where then plenty of normies and ladder climbers meet, but they're still separated from the inner circle except perhaps for a photo session.

Are you referring to the "key part of our community?" That means nothing, it's empty talk to keep people engaged and feel involved.

Think of it from their point of view. Sure, they'll kill 99% of humanity, but the elite 1% bunkerfags that ride out the crop-disease starvation, food wars and eventual extermination by gas drones in New Zealand or wherever will emerge after a few decades to a literal Garden of Eden. An Earth that's had it's entire surface scoured free of evidence of human presence. A small number of completely automated nuclear reactors will provide clean energy that the few hundred million people need, plus robots/automation will also provide all their labor and food. Those people and their descendants (aka all that's left of humanity) will never know war or hunger or fear.
