VR is extremely limited by the first person perspective/being in real time. The first time I tried vr porn it was really cool and all but it has all the shortcomings of real life that cinema doesn't have (thanks to framing + editing), that just makes it more tedious instead of more immersive. Even if they fix the headset/gear issues, this will remain. For instance with vr porn you are essentially limited to seated or lying positions, even positions like doggy look awkward and uncomfortable because no one faps in the doggy position. Porn producers still do not even understand this basic thing after like 5 years of experimenting. You try once or twice then you just go back to regular porn because the angles are more flexible and fun, and editing is better for rhythm, the kuleshov effect is incredibly powerful for the human brain. Well it'll be the same thing with narrative films or games. I have no interest in first person real time films. I'm sure there'll be a market fit for it eventually with gimmicky horror etc. But it will never replace regular screens. Same with games, anything with a non first person perspective or different concepts is simply not suitable. Great for shooters but you can already see how actions like jumping is incredibly difficult to implement. It also has the issue of being - too - immersive, kind of overwhelming for the human brain, it just requires 100% of your attention and quite frankly it's tiresome. Violence simulation becoming very credible to the point where some will have deeper psychological consequences, horror becoming genuinely traumatic for some etc. People just prefer to be 20% engaged in their entertainment while they're talking with their friends or playing on their phones, they want the distance of irony, comfort of telling themselves its just fake entertainment etc.
Porn is the killer app for any tech adoption, and vr porn was supposed to be a holy grail for nerds but in reality it sucks. If porn can't convince, it's doomed

I thought for sure AR was gonna take off after apple released arkit a few years ago. I bought a mac with some crypto gains and spent a month learning iphone app dev. fucking hate xcode so bad though that I gave up on it. nothing really happened with ar either.....it's kind of a meme until we start using it in glass. when every window, windshield, pair of glasses is a screen, then ar will really take off.
also, the last time I played around with arkit was 2017ish, but it was still very limited in what it could do imo.

Learn Unity and C#. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. Buy cheap used Oculus Rift S then move on to Quest when you are more experienced and comfortable.
