Read NPR's articles, or even wikipedia, and you'll see his actual conviction and prison sentence had nothing to do with the Daraprim controversy. The practice of artificially jacking up the prices of drugs by 1000% or more long preceded him and still continues to this day (Ars Technica among others have articles about this). He was simply doing his job and on his way to the top.

All I know for sure is someone powerful lost money b/c if he'd been doing nothing but enriching his rich buddies with his schemes they'd have shielded him from any government intervention through the typical means.
