XMR Monero General

Welcome to XMR General, dedicated to discussion of the world's leading privacy-coin! We broke our 2-year high yesterday and are riding comfy in the 130s.

Because Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, people can easily send money despite corrupt and broken governments or banks. This provides economic empowerment of individuals in oppressive countries or depressed economies.

Private financial history protects consumers and companies from price manipulation, supply chain exploitation, economic discrimination, or the like. Monero is the only cryptocurrency that has the features to serve as completely fungible, decentralized, electronic cash.

If you're new, feel free to ask any questions you like and a Monero Chad will be with you shortly.

XMR is a honeypot, use 0x>>MR

you don't have a dick.

0xmonero is a copy paste of 0xBTC code with the Monero name slapped on top. It has no ring sigs, no bullet proofs, no dandelion++, no asic resistant mining, no smooth emissions, no Elliptic curves, no spend key priv key combo. It is nothing but a code fork of a failed token on a bloated network bogged down by chinese pyramid schemes. If you legitimately think its ever going to go anywhere, you're retarded- but you don't think that, because you're a dickless shill scammer.

Noob question but how much time will it take to mine one monero with my shitty internal uhd graphics card.

"Creating an electronic currency is a big deal precisely because control over the medium of exchange is one of the three ingredients of a state." "If you take away the state's monopoly over the means of economic interaction, then you take away one of the three principal ingredients of a state. In the model of the state as a mafia, where the state is a protection racket, the state shakes people down for money in every possible way. Controlling currency flows is important for revenue-raising by the state, but it is also important for simply controlling what people do- incentivizing one thing, disincentivizing another thing, completely banning a certain activity, or an organization, or interactions between organizations." "Government regulation has made particular financial players kings and doesn't allow other market entrants. Economic freedom has been impinged by an elite group that is able to influence both regulation and the principles involved in these banks."

Short answer: probably a while. If you're solo mining it's essentially a lottery, so you COULD hit it on day one or it could take years. If you're in a mining pool you'd earn fractions of a monero every day, which is the route I'd go if I were you. How quick that would add up to a monero depends on the CPU (not graphics card, monero is ASIC resistant) you were using to mine, the pool, luck, and a few other factors.

Monero is mined on cpu
Get a gaming pc you can game and mine eth + xmr, convert eth to xmr

Infinity. Price will keep rising and computer hardware will keep improving. Hashing on your shitty laptop will be like pissing into the ocean.

I have a gaming laptop i5 and 8 gigs RAM with gtx 1050ti and a normal pc with 8 gigs RAM and Intel UHD Graphics card 8 gigs.
Is it enough to mine though?

cute. let's have that with a smug expression.

download xmr stak and join a pool and find out your hashrate and then figure out if it is worth it or not. If you are asking us, it probably isn't worth your time, and will be more cost effective using the money spent on electricity to dca into Monero.
>when he tells you Bitcoin is fungible

No. Laptop is not made for constant load

I LOVE MONERO.. but..

It's enough to mine 0x>>MR

Just mine in the background whenever your computer is on. You'll get fuck all but why not. It might be worth mining around the clock when the price explodes but for now mining is saturated and Monero is cheap so just buy it.

Who or what are you quoting?

I don't think so- the timing is inconsistent and the posts aren't uniform. But hey, I could be wrong.

Bullshit. They just want access to entry and exit points a la Tor. And the privacy coins they’ve cracked are limited to DASH, ZEC, and other sub-par AEC’s. Allowing privacy coin listings could also be signaling defeat and actually be an attempt to triage the situation. Still comfy af

The Feds can’t directly trace monero, so their only chance is to create large databases of metadata using KYC info to loosely track individuals hoarding Monero or other cryptos.

>tfw holding an unknown amount

so best bet of buying and selling is only face to face?

this one is so much better

yes local monero is still your best bet
however with Monero you can withdraw from an exchange and use different subaddresses each time, thereby preventing the feds from provably being able to connect that you are withdrawing transactions to the same wallet.
Alternatively, when atomic swaps come to fruition, you will be able to p2p send Bitcoin for Monero. This already exists through Morphtoken but it is not p2p, so it is not perfect and also you are eating fees trhough the service.
There is also Bisq, which is a p2p service. It's not based on cryptography though so you do run into difficulties with the service being attacked.

I am so fuckin comfy
