AR/VR is the future. Invest in learning the software side because there is minimal overhead. Perhaps if you're interested in the physical side, you can do a business involving haptics or something. However, due to overhead it's not as an efficient method while I do think that side is more interesting, all I want is $$.
Why is AR/VR the future?
>Apple wants to do AR glasses. This in my opinion is the next iPhone for them.

We all know apple knows how to market and I find the office uses interesting. Also, Hololens 2 is no gimmick

Now I find the office application of Apple glasses very interesting, faceberg is pushing the same shit with the quest 2.

>But people won't adopt VR the form factor is too big
Absolutely. But we have proof of concepts of VR the size of glasses

Oh, you may have also missed this. The perfect display technology already exists.
>youtube.com/watch?v=SXq1ZXDgPfE&t according to them the display is indistinguishable from real life
We already have a headset with the same FOV or close enough to human eyes

Cuckerberg is investing into varifocal lenses for even further immersion.

Now, when cuckerberg said he wanted VR to be adopted like phones and believes its the future, I didn't believe it.
Then I was absolutely blown away how they're selling the Quest 2 at a loss and the amount of cutting edge technology in it.
You have the opportunity now to make the flappy bird of VR.
There is no competition right now because there is no money to be made. However, if you can operate at a loss during this growth period (Quest 2 is the start of exponential adoption imo), you can make it.
Good luck friends.
