New tokens pop up as a way of funding projects, but why would mega-corps like Twitter who can develop their own blockchains in-house need to create some shitcoin for funding? I'm not sure about Xenon/how twitter would run on a blockchain, I'm just saying you can't have a blockchain without a unit of account. Yes, data is transacted, but there needs to be a unit of account (a token) to record the transaction within the blockchain.

We all know that most tokens exist solely on the hype and speculation of their devs and backers, but it doesn't mean it's stupid to ask WHY the fuck certain companies would even bother with a token ecosystem because any relationship the token has with the actual product/software is a big indicator of its long-term success and not just a pajeet pump and dump in the street.
