Starting to play with forex because ibkr is so fucking broken that it's only useful to boomer long stocks, and at that point I might as well use my bank since the fees become lower when playing it that way.
It's pretty fun. Much slower than stocks, though. With stocks I can get in and out of a position on the 2m chart within 20 minutes. In forex, I can wait hours before either my tp or sl are hit. Market dynamics are also a bit funkier: nothing happens for hours then suddenly some session opens somewhere and there's a 1000 pips move. I have to learn more about this. I like the 24/7 availability for sure. Also, there isn't that much difference in the tradables' correlation between forex and stocks, they often widely trade the same way, especially around some time periods like summer, which is a bit disappointing because there aren't as many tradable pairs. Another thing that's different is volatility. While it's far less in absolute terms, it's far more between candles. Patterns work the same way but need to be handled differently, similar to playing very whippy stocks, even though forex tends to not be really whippy beside the wide stretches the candle take. Instead, they tend to have fairly sustained trends, which makes trend and counter-trend trading far easier than in stocks.
