Regardless, you should have a mental concept of what it should look like and could list characteristics of a typical apple. But if you actually mentally "see" an apple, then there is something wrong.

I can picture an apple in my head just fine, but I don't visualize it in front of me. When I close my eyes I see 5, but I can still picture a Granny Smith apple perfectly in a different part of my head if that makes sense

Imagining a render of an apple and actually physically seeing it are two different things

I have vivid dreams normally, they do feel real in many ways, and I would imagine they are in color and with sound, because they feel like real life (in the moment at least, although sometimes I slowly start to understand I'm in a dream while I'm still dreaming). If you mean internal dialogue as in basically talking to yourself and internalizing/mulling over problems/events then yes.

i have a feeling that we all see and hear thoughts in our mind the same. I can't imagine not having an inner voice or being able to make mental images. I just think people are confused about the definition but in reality we all do it the same way-
