XMR Monero General

Welcome to XMR General, dedicated to discussion of the world's leading privacy-coin!
Because Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, people can easily send money despite corrupt and broken governments or banks. This provides economic empowerment of individuals in oppressive countries or depressed economies.
Private financial history protects consumers and companies from price manipulation, supply chain exploitation, economic discrimination, or the like. Monero is the only cryptocurrency that has the features to serve as completely fungible, decentralized, electronic cash.
If you're new, feel free to ask any questions you like and a Monero Chad will be with you shortly.

Im new to monero and I'm lucky to be living in a place with 3 monero ATMs in 30minutes drive proximity.
Redpill me on why I should store my money in monero? If some government would ban it, wouldn't it lose value because it would scare off institutions ?

Is monero somewhat decoupled from btc ?

what happens if I use monero on my windows 10 laptop without downloading their blockchain, is that secure enough? (probably not because of 3rd party server hosting)

Thanks for taking your time I'd really appreciate it if you could answer some if not all quetions, yes I'm a newfag to monero I've been sleeping on monero for 5 years despite doing "business" online.

>If some government would ban it, wouldn't it lose value because it would scare off institutions ?

Monero is not backed by these Institutions or any bank. Monero is backed by Darkweb and the technology by the coin itself. The darkweb will always exist and will grow popularity with all these shills on tiktok and social media. Just look at the picture I posted then you will understand why Monero will always be on the top

Let me take a guess: You live in Netherlands? You might not answer this for infosec reasons. I'm not so lucky and only have a few BTC ATMs in my town.

>Is monero somewhat decoupled from btc ?
If Bitcoin goes up, Alts go up. If Bitcoin goes down, everything goes down, too. That's the rule, so far. It might change in the future.

Regarding your other questions: Lol, I have no clue, mate.

Thank you fellas

Also fuck the pajeet nigger who comes in to shill 0x XMR, FUCK YOU, no rupees or toilet for you.

Is monero starting to gain recognition or has it become a meme? I really hope its the former and not the latter.

He has no penis

Transactions are going up, so it looks like recognition

is there any way to stake monero or liquidity pool like Uniswap? I have some monero sitting there but I am not touching those in years.w

>Redpill me on why I should store my money in monero?
It's like Bitcoin but private. Nothing more to be said. I can't send you Monero and then look at your wallet and all your transactions. If you don't believe in the project as much as Bitcoin, you can always hold Bitcoin and use Monero. Most Monero chads think that Monero's BTC ratio will appreciate though.
> If some government would ban it, wouldn't it lose value because it would scare off institutions ?
Monero's value is that it is a cryptocurrency that is fungible. It will always be needed in situations where Bitcoin fails, such as the dark net. Also Monero can't really be "banned". Certain authoritarian countries can make it more difficult to on ramp to it, but as long as you have internet you will be able to get Monero. Over time, we expect Monero's clout to rise as more people find out about a faster and more private alternative to Bitcoin that is less valued.
>Is monero somewhat decoupled from btc ?
Monero has had a great year but our BTC ratio is not where it should be. We expect the ratio to grow greatly during the next bull run. We peaked at 0.03BTC last bull run, and a lot of us Monero chads expect higher.
>what happens if I use monero on my windows 10 laptop without downloading their blockchain, is that secure enough
It's secure. Downloading the blockchain is definitely recommended but you can get away with using a light wallet or by connecting remotely.
