im not really cheap i bought one of those cool road bikes for about 2k
i enjoy the exercise makes me feel good after sitting on the computer for 12 hours
funny thing is in the town i live in i often get places faster on a bike than in the car because i can filter through traffic

i am also way to sedentary especially during covid. i tried riding a bike but its so useless for me. its cold, if it rains your clothes soak. you can not transport anything over 5lbs without it becoming a burden etc.... you cant give friends & family or coworkers a lift or what ever

Just drop 5000 on a lightly used beater Toyota Corolla.
