No this job sort of fell into my lap. They recruited at my school and I had a job 6 months before graduation. I've heard bad things about USAjobs. Your best bet might be finding a connect within the agency you want to apply, and sending the supervisor your resume directly. Some of them have direct hire authority and can skip USAjobs entirely.

My advice to anyone trying to make the switch is don’t overthink it, you will accumulate the skills and knowledge over time. It’s slightly back breaking but I’d prefer to not have to waste time at the gym anyway, work is my work out. To transition look into Unions and smaller crews looking for a new guy. It’s pretty rewarding to see all the work you’ve done at the end of the day.

Government workers are literal NPC’s. They are structured to make you “work” however the work you are doing is always somebody else’s. Both my parents, brother and I worked for the government at one point. The work crushed my moms soul, I quit because I was doing work for others, brother was fired because they wanted to hire someone at a lower wage. Only person that enjoys it is my dad because he is a company man and near the top. If you want monotonous, low effort, retard enabling(co workers), soul less work join the government.
