Having 10,000 decentralised oracles only secures the reliability of the data from the source. In this case Associated Press, if the source data is garbage your oracles don't achieve anything.
Additionally using dOracles for *free* data is like paying Lloyd's of London to insure the air, it's a waste of money securing something you can get from the source for free.

You don't understand. No customers will pay them to run the node. Nobody needs that node. Therefore, if Sergey wasn't paying them to operate out of the incentive wallet with Chainlink Community Grants (tm), the node wouldn't exist. The small election bet which used the everipedia data was a gimmick, hundreds of millions were bet on the election on-chain using real oracles, not this garbage. All of the link nodes are complete bullshit and nobody is paying to use them.

Chainlink is useless for subjective data and this proved what an absolute embarassment sergey is to Ari's work. It is you who miss the big picture. You could hold the whole election on-chain and no oracle would be needed. Future elections *will* be on-chain and no oracle will be needed. Or if you still wanted it held off-chain you could use kleros which is the subjective, tamperproof oracle to be your oracle on the final outcome, as it has an exponentially larger amount of nodes than LINK, being real people.
