who in their right mind would buy a hardware wallet? ITT: Make fun of tech illiterate boomers and tell us what software you are using
Imagine buying a wallet
I keep 100k in a browser extension
no u dont stop lying
i keep 278k with my private keys in a zip file on google drive
Using anything other than a mind wallet encrypted into a memory palace is comedy gold
that's a shitty idea
why not just use bip38 paper wallets or a password safe with proper key derivation algo like scrypt or argon2
i do to
I am not smart. Why is this a bad idea? Is it because they are overpriced, or is it something else?
because OP is a faggot that shoves his hardware wallet up his asshole so he's worried it'll fall in the toilet
i own 4 Ledgers for each one of my BTC stacks from around 2015
yes, hardware is expensive. Software can do the job for free. (yes, I know everyone here is rich, so that argument doesn't count)
If you really want a hardware backup, put your keys on a USB stick and store that in a secure place.
And what about security updates? Let's say someone discovers a security risk in the app you are using. Well, you can download an update or find another software solution. If that happens with a hardware wallet however, it's probably useless now.
if you are a bigbrain, this would unironically be the best solution. Unless you become insane or die ofc, but then it's not your problem anymore
It's really not that hard. When I was a teenager I memorized a couple of hundred digits of pi just so I could rattle them off.
Everyone should have at least one mind wallet.
Human memory is extremely fragile, malleable and changeable. Would not advise.
>The current Guinness World Record is held by Lu Chao of China, who, in 2005, recited 67,890 digits of pi
>And what about security updates? Let's say someone discovers a security risk in the app you are using. Well, you can download an update or find another software solution. If that happens with a hardware wallet however, it's probably useless now.
This is such an unfathomably dumb statement and coming from a blatant technological illiteracy that I cannot comprehend how someone can say this so unironically and seriously.
Working in tech really has taught me how the average person is so painfully tech illiterate.
What I said is a fact, extreme literal autist outliers are not the standard.
>security update (which would moreso be a firmware update in this case)
>for an offline hardware ledger
>>>>
>It's really not that hard. When I was a teenager I memorized a couple of hundred digits of pi
well, to reach their own I guess. I'm not smart enough for shit like that
>BONK
>not anymore
>can't even remember a dozen words
Anyone can remember even 24 words, the problem is that human memory is factually flawed and changeable, no matter how le high IQ you are.
Every time you remember something you don't remember the original instance, but the last time you remembered that. And that way distortion of said memory takes place. This is a fact. Just one day that "least" will become "last" in your head.
So all it takes is a single day where you go out drinking, be in a stressful situation or be in any situation other than the baseline normal and for you to distort your own memory. People even often have days where they all of sudden can't remember the order of a simple 4 digit passcode, let alone anything more complex.
There is a reason why singular human memory is not seen as hard evidence at the court.
anyone use MyCrypto Desktop?
I use a software in a computer connected to the internet because I care about my crypto
>not smart enough
Memory=/=Intelligence. You can look up videos of chimpanzees memorizing a 20 button Simon Says game within 3 seconds, then inputting it in the same time.
I just leave it on my exchange
Ledger had a leak the other week whereby all personal (not payment) details of its customers are now out there on the ether. Ive had text messages and emails from scammers already. I'm moving house now because I'm not waiting for a door knock

>fuck hardware wallets they're overpriced
We're talking about securing over 100k usd, in some cases over 1M - a nano costs $60 lel
>forget your words
>no backup hard copy
>lose your entire stash for being a dumb dummy
Lel
For anyone worried you can make your own Hardware wallet but it's hard and take time so the best and most simple solution to store your crypto mainly bitcoin is putting your bitcoin in a wallet and save the private key somewhere and never use it for a long time, cold storage. Paper wallet.. same thing..
If you don't want to spend money on hardware wallet that's fine but hardware wallet just make things easier and faster
Fag holding bitcoin since 2014 here. trust me it's possible..
If you do right it can be even more secure than hardware wallet
Big brain investors use big brain ideas
