I was there when people called it quits on ethereum in 2016. While everyone was abandoning it, I was loading my bags and evangelizing. It paid off, and big. This isn't any different. This is a value investing play, and I put my money in teams that know what they are doing and great products. I know what lag is, and when it stops it catches up.

the big debate in early brave days for eich was whether he should use bitcoin or not....eventually he went with his own token on eth.
in retrospect, even tho btc isn't a great currency currently, it would've been a 10x better choice then a useless erc20 token.
its funny because he bet on the wrong horse. LN would've been the perfect infrastructure to base brave around...it scales with micro-sat payments...something that eth can't even do now.

the ad system doesnt even work that well, theyre still way too expensive to run for small players and theyre moving way too slowly. the token really isnt needed, if there was a way to get payouts and tips in eth everyone would prefer it

he did use bitcoin, the fees crippled the whole project. Lighting wasn't ready then and its not ready now, and it likely wont be ready for a very long time. You can't just shove some shitty software like lightning into the browser and expect it to work. They are doing everything the right way and theres a reason bitcoiners fight brave so hard. Even Adam Back has blocked Brendan on twitter.

Outside of these echo chambers everyone sees bitcoin as a scam with the value proposition being "buy it so the price goes up so you can sell it to someone for more than you paid...hopefully" Most of society views bitcoin as one extremely huge chinese ponzi scheme and they are not wrong. Brave actually has revenue to facilitate the tokens use. Bitcoin brings in zero revenue.

The reason they didn't use lightning is because they couldn't enrich themselves and line their own pockets. Its a fucking erc20 with the goal of being a payment coin.
