You have to pay capital gains if you cash out on short term holds regardless of how much is in your account. Long term holds (over a year) are not taxed if you're under I believe $40k

GTHX; SQ; AMZN; and, if you feel like taking a risk, OPTI is nearing a low (it's down 10% today). It had the potential to go up 20-40%, and it's doubtful it will go lower... but it's a penny stock and the thing could just blow up in your face at any moment.
