Every large corporation. I have personally seen management diversity hires destroy entire engineering departments with incompetence at multiple companies.

this. I worked as a project manager for a SV tech company from 07-15.
At one point, the project I was put on was they were outsourcing a critical part of their infrastructure to india....it was a total and complete clusterfuck. Like too much for me to write here...but suffice to say I eventually made an impassioned plea to execs to let me start a "parallel team" based in US and let indians continue to work and us work in parallel and see how could provide sensible solution first.
I was authorized with very limited budget and hired 4 engineers and we worked for 12 months and was able to "rescue" the project and bring it back in house.
Those 4 engineers were 3 whites + 1 asian-american. All males.
After proving our success, the project was taken out of my hands and handed over to a fat green haired lez, she proceeded to hire every form of diversity that exist on periodic chart.
I stayed for a year longer then left in 2015 and when I did that project was starting to fall apart again and execs were again talking about "outsourcing" to get cost down + productivity up.

People in this country are indoctrinated to believe "diversity is our strength" when there has never been any evidence for it. This is reinforced through institutional mandates like affirmative action and such. The kind of people that buy into it do not have any technical skills at all and legitimately view people as identical units of human labor resource, getting extra PR points for more diversity.
What exactly are you talking about? Google is one of the most succesful company in the world. They have complete control over lives of a billion people.

From 08-18, I worked my way up to Staff Engineer at one of the FAGMAN companies. Starting in 2014, my team got a dedicated diversity committee since a) we had one of the worse diversity scores of any product team in the company, b) were one of the most productive teams and had an externally beloved product. These two points were related. The diversity bullshit basically broke the organization and I left four years later when I realized things were unsalvageable.

The firm I work for is the largest in my state for my industry, and has been incredibly successful since we started in 1947. Long story short, the firm leadership which is mostly men recently appointed two women as "partners-in-charge," and already I'm noticing the decline as the company loses its focus on what actually matters, and spending tons of resources and time on bullshit like scholarships for young black people to get into our industry. lol
The hiring is getting more "equal" but far less talented. I'm looking to jump ship while this company still has some prestige left.

Smart people develop the tools and algorithms. Then middle and upper management fill the ranks with warm-body diversity hires who contribute nothing technical. The tools and algorithms allow them to continue making ungodly amounts of money and have extreme power without having to actually grow or innovate most other aspects of their businesses.

These businesses are like the Titanic. They have so much momentum from a century of success that you do not immediately see the results of shit hiring practices until many years later (from the super high level business standpoint). By the time they actually are able to see it adversely affect the bottom line, it is way too late to salvage.

I literally work for one of these companies. The CEO and all top and mid level management ALWAYS point out in every townhall/quarterly big meeting how they are "rated highly" by diversity consultants. My company does not GAF about cost of compensation difference between white westerns and all others. I know you think its pure capitalism and in a tighter industry its true for sure, but my industry, the profits, comp does not matter.
Not because of new innovations though. It's just because of digital ad market momentum.

Only because the tech companies hide their revenue. Amazon makes way more they just reinvest it. They just posted a profit the first time this year. Revenue means very little in the scheme of things nowadays. This thread is about innovation and future growth. Walmarts growth prospects are not very good in my opinion.

its a mixed bag and is complicated.
some people see. my boss, who went to bat for me to setup parallel project saw clearly.
his bosses however are pressured by other forces for inclusivity bullshit. eventually things like legal gets involved and things go sideways.
pretty much like same as regular world....at the small scale everything is fine and works good....as more and more (((stakeholders))) get involved they each need to push in their little bit of change and result is collapse.
On a larger note the problem is largely unfixable because the problem is "public markets". its not the fucking ceo's money. its not the exec teams money....its "shareholder" money that is being funnelled in by the truck load by 0% interest rates. so in the end the exec team opts to be diverse and get good twitter cred then actually focus on being productive
