I only got into crypto in 2017 because I bought GPUs to do machine learning. I knew of BTC but I didn't know there were others. I started mining Vertcoin and bought $20k worth of alt coins. In Dec 2017 they were worth $200k. I held but I sold later at $30k. For some reason losing a thousand trading options eight years prior hurt much more. The crypto losses didn't really hurt at all because was so unusual and it was all fast gains I lost. Plus I still came out ahead.
