i mean the experience of living in NYC is really worth it if you want my honest opinion, maybe not as much now during the pandemic but it's worth it and it's a good time to get in because rent prices dropped
and honestly you can easily survive here on average 50k salary which is what I was starting with not too long ago

NYC is a shithole. People that glamorize it either don't live here or only visited it for a short time. Everything is obscenely expensive. 90% of the small businesses have closed and there are tons of vacant stores. There's trash everywhere and limited sanitation services have been running since June. I'd be in the 1% of income earners in any other state, but I'm middle class here.

Just moved out of NYC after being there for 5 years (got first apartment at 24). Was an exhilarating place and super fun environment to live in during your 20s, but 95% of all the attractions are gone/shut down/limited that makes it not worth it anymore. The day I moved out, my super told me that including my now-empty apartment, “8 of 26 units in the building were now empty.” And I lived in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in lower Manhattan.
