Taxes are net gains from base, I.e. start with 2k, get 5k, you’re taxed 30% on 3k.
Same as start 2k, get 4K, pull out and reinvest to make 5k before EOY - still 30% on 3k, since base was 2k
Someone more familiar with taxes can tel me if I’m wrong
