Not sure about your area but it's literally always cheaper. Most hotels have hotel fees, especially as you get classier.
Las Vegas trips are always airbnb's cause you dodge resort fees. But I've always compared prices, my recent trip to mountains my whole 2 story cabin was $98 a night compared to the standard $120 a night at one of the 2 hotels. My expiernce is just west coast, not sure about rest of america
