What kinds of commodities are people invested/interested in? Im coming over from PMG so the only ones I know of are precious metals along with things like timber and oil. Im also interested in agriculture.

Anyone have predictions for any specific commodities markets? I think oil is a decent buy right now but thats probably gonna be a five year hold.

I think helium is a good commodity to invest in. Supposedly incredibly scarce to the point where a helium filled balloon should cost about two hundred dollars. Clinton sold all of our strategic helium during his administration and it is incredibly important for things like MRI machines and space travel (also party baloons)

Lets keep it going!

How do you invest in commodities, by buying stocks of mining companies?

check out odd balls like onions beans, ironically there a major feed product / commodity that the asian market depends on, something China has to buy almost exclusively from the US due to other nations not generating enough to be bothered with.

Also just popping in while I wait for someone to make a PMG thread. Other commodities you guys should look into are Iron, nickel, lithium, coal. Molybdenum might be an interesting one as well.

Buy $UUUU. Hold 10 years.

Hahaha. S o i translates to Onions

i forgot that boards sensor the word i am looking for, look up s.o.ybean's

Soi

Onions aren't beans, newfriend

Uranium is a good one. Im thinking stocks of agribusiness companies, mining companies, timber companies, and oil companies.

There was an oil tanker craze here a while ago anf a lot of people made a lot of money investing in oil tanking companies.

I wonder if we shouldnt look into LNG companies as well. Liquified natural gas is becoming a major energy source for india as they make plans to move away from coal fired power plants. Heavy industry is also looking more to LNG for energy as bunker fuels become more heavily regulated.

We're going to need some links in the OP if we want to make this a thing. Personally I wouldn't mind if /pmg/ was used for base metals / uranium and other minable commodities as well as pm's but a commodity general is great because it would include agriculture and oil for example. Here's hoping this takes off

Pick one

I am going to look up some heavy commodity miners to add to a list. Teck Resources, bhp billiton etc. There are quite a few that will fit this description i am sure.

Was thinking more about some general information related to investing into commodities than individual companies or the like. Like newbie guides to mining/oil/agri stocks, risks and industry-specific cycles (like winter being a slow time), futures market tips etc.

I've some mining-related learning links myself that I posted a few threads back at /pmg/. I guess I'll post them here once I get back from work in a few hours

got you, i ll see what i can dig up in the mean time.

Bumping. We need this thread alive

You dig up anything good yet? I know you're at least a trustworthy filter for mining-related information. Could you maybe even find a link to some some basic geology stuff? I'm pretty green at that myself

sorry been busy but yes I found this simple easy link from the motley fool thats pretty good fool.com/investing/2019/10/05/how-to-invest-in-mining-stocks.aspx
Heres a very handy course when looking at mineral deposits from Sprott Media that even I use on the regular. youtube.com/watch?v=OXqE82UIVVU&t=53s This particular series also goes into depth later on discussing the mineral exploration process but i suggest going through while having a good coffee and actually listen to each vid. There complicated but get the points across well. I ll find some more to do with oil and gas tomorrow, thats not really my specialty but i understand enough to be able to help if needed.

Alright nice. I'll check those out myself and compare them to my own links and I'll see if there is any overlap. I'll be home in a few hours so I'll start looking these over and I'll try to make a simple, concise list of links so that there is space for agriculture, livestock and oil in the OP

Some picks I've been looking into: copper, lithium and of course agriculture. If the california is going all electric then copper and lithium will be big

is this a cope thread because pms didn't moon but btc did? Where's floorstacker and his boomer cope lmao

Minus the shitposts and derailing. Wouldn't mind a PM + Commodities general
