College is a meme, but HR departments use it as a gauge of competency. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone who graduates from college is a winner, and that’s where the area of study comes into play, but It basically prevents them from having to do any guesswork. They’re okay throwing out one or two resumes of great candidates if it means they don’t have to waste time looking at tons of resumes of pajeets, self-taught neckbeards, and empowered women who think they know more than they actually do. This also doesn’t mean college is useful, it’s just meant to weed out the truly stupid and you have to pay for the privilege of proving you aren’t stupid.

Sure, you can make it without going to college, but it’s a fuck ton easier to get your foot in the door of a good career with a degree. I’ve never regretted getting an education.
