yeah it's pretty common. I work for a big telecom company and apparently the old corporate dickhead came in, regionalized it (so a bunch of people lost their jobs if they wouldn't move) and then forced everyone into the office. However, everyone still worked from home I guess outside of the major office. He's gone now though and we got new corporate leadership in the last few months and he seems to be much more supportive of the work from home thing. They were mobilizing to return everyone back to work soon covid be damned. He pumped the breaks on it. Future is bright, but I'm still probably gonna jump ship eventually since I'd rather work in an office and make more money than work from home and make no money. I just have a small apartment so it kind of sucks to spend every day stuck in my room.

He said recently that he thinks 'office spaces' are going to become more like campuses in the coming years. I'd buy that considering my office block is a bit like that now

It's too late for me, not in tech but in another "white collar" job that I can do remote. But also in my late 30's. There's not changing careers at this point. Do or die. Remote or die.

I’m mostly afraid about a mandatory vaccine for continued employment. My office is closed through Q2 of next year. Was already at only 2/5 days a week at the office so hoping 100% isn’t a problem. Sucks for people who need to be there. Theoretically I and many others don’t but companies might expand it out of the idea of fairness.

I've been thinking about refusing to go back also. I was going to give them a resignation letter if they force us to come back and use it as my bargaining chip. I'm a good employee, but not really vital to the company so I've been thinking about different ways to increase power on my side and just walk out if they refuse. I can't handle going back to my wage cage 5 days a week with a 1:45 total commute.
