I was interested in computers ever since I was a kid, started programming when I was just a freshmen in high school. Granted kids these days are programming in elementary school, but I live in a different era then.

I'd recommend trying your hand at coding, it's really a matter of finding what you're passionate about and learning it. You're using a computer as you type this (well maybe except a smartphone) so the barrier to entry to programming is extremely low yet so many people don't know how to code.

Buy this book and read it cover-to-cover, do all the exercises. Leetcode and start applying to job interviews. In the meantime, start contributing on Github right now.
