You have to go to the DMV now and give them your private key printed out on a form, then they give you a license and your wallet is now government registered. Then you go back to Coinbase and register it and then you can send to that wallet

If its a private wallet you can use any 9-digit tag, like 123456789.

I had this happen with exodus. if you dont fill out the ripple address it freaks out. if your wallet doesnt need a ripple address you can out anything in the field and it will work and let it go through. ONLY IF YOU DONT NEED A RIPPLE ADDRESS. always double check

are you trolling or just retarded? you have to put a tag, any tag, when sending out of coinbase. they give you a warning if you try to send without one, and then the transaction fails. (actually the first time i sent to my ledger address it went through, and subsequent transactions failed.)
when receiving xrp at an exhange you will definitely need a tag or it will be sent to someone else on the exchange. when you receive on a private address, you can leave it blank or use any dummy tag you'd like.
but since coinbase doesn't like xrp transactions without a tag, JUST USE A DUMMY TAG.
