have always preferred the idea of ICFs. concrete walls with thermal mass or, forget what it is called, but the way to build with concrete and natural rock... think slip forming. Do 2 feet at a time tying in with rebar with natural stone interior and exterior walls. nice look that will last forever, don't know if there is waterproofing that can be mixed in with the concrete to slow water transfer.

I bought six acres next to my grandparents in rural Ohio and it's always been my dream to build a comfy as fuck mcmansion out there but prices to build are so fucking ridiculous I'll never be able to afford it short of $1,000 Link.

Just to build that cardboard shack up there is probably 400k and that's not accounting for the land. If it's within an hour of any major metro you're talking 700k.

How do builders get the beams to be so perfectly vertical when they're so long? I tried making a small mobile workbench and I couldn't even get all the 2ft long beams to be perfectly vertical. I wound up having to take it apart and put it back together 3 times. Not a simple task when you're gluing your shit together instead of using screws.

Houses with a concrete block outer shell stay cooler than US 2x4 houses (air conditioning makes this point moot though). Old houses made from actual 3 foot thick stone walls (not uncommon) don't require air conditioning at all.

Thrown up in a week by illegal immigrants with $30k in materials.
30 years spent wageslaving to pay it off.
No wonder young people choose the pods.
