alright so i met a degenerate guy who makes tattoos and he told me that he makes 5k-10k the month. Is that true or bullshit?i thought tattooists are hungry. Making more money than engineers and doctors?i doubt it and he doesnt even have his own shop but even if he had his own shop,would he rly make that money?

Tattooists make pretty consistent cash. I have several fine artist friends that became tattooists basically for the easy money. 5-10k is believable (pre-pandemic) for sure

If he's really talented and has cultivated his business on social media platforms, I don't see this being far fetched. What kind of shithole do you live in where doctors and engineers make less than 50-100k per year? No Tattoo artist is going to be making that kind of money starting out, because I'd imagine it takes a lot of time and natural skill to actually get to the point where people are willing to pay a lot for their services. An artist making that kind of money would be equivalent to a senior engineer/doctor, who would easily be making 200-400k a year, if not more, depending on their specialization.

it's 100% true, if you're a legit good tattooist and live in a first world country you can make that much a week in a good month.

Experienced tattoo artists charge like $200/hr. I imagine they take home like 25-50% of that after the shop gets its cut

Not everyone can tattoo user, it’d take many many years to get good, sure people can train to trace tattoos but there’s much more to it, being artistic for one and it’s quite a physical job it’s bad for the body holding a vibrating tattoogun in all kinds of weird positions for hours on end, plenty of people sit for a whole day session so 8-10 hours with very small breaks. it’s gonna fuckup the neck and back

What part of "you need to be good to make that kind of $" do you not understand? I imagine being good at tattoo art is like being good at drawing. It takes a lot of fucking time and effort to actually become good at it. You aren't going to make 5-10k a month if you're drawings are stick-figure tier.
