Honestly I've done a decent amount of research for if/when I start to bald, and it seems as if using finasteride while you have a decent amount of hair is the easiest way. Minoxidil sounds annoying.
Long term is a temporary solution though.

Minoxidil is dangerous bc if you stop using it, and it’s easy to accidentally skip a day or so due to life...you lose all your progress and it falls out faster, looking worse.
Stick to finasteride (5mg tabs are cheapest, cut them in half and take half daily) to prevent loss of existing hair.
Buy a really good clinical grade laser diode cap 270+ diode. 5-10 mins a day with a laser cap reverses miniaturization of the hair follicles.
Finasteride is about $40 for 90 5mg pills.
Laser cap is $750-$1500 for one worth getting.
