Yes, a chunk goes to the management company who screens tenants/hires subcontractors etc. Some goes to repair/maintenance of common areas and a bit to the reserve account. Wait until you hear about special assessments.

My HOA for my condo is $275/month and that includes water, gas, garbage, maintenance, whatever else. $1000 is lol though I'm imagining the other 6 units in my building and I pooling together $4200/month to pay LaDarius the security guard to watch tiktok videos for 10 hours per day.

Oh it's maintenance fees. Didn't know burgers called it HOA. Around here a HOA is for suburbs and they mostly police aesthetics to make sure the homes all look as cookie cutter as possible, done by unpaid homeowners
