There are ammo shortages everywhere. While the lack of raw materials is part of the problem I think now would be a good time to open a small ammo manufacturing business. If it goes well it can expand. Who wants to be a ground floor investor?

sounds like regulation hell. ammo will be plentiful again in a year or two. it comes in 4 years cycles
My main hobby is competition pistil shooting, in a given year i loaf 50k rounds of 9mm.
Getting materials is VERY hard right now, particularly primers. Powder and bullets can be had, brass if you are loading new js very hard to get as well.
Loading ammo for money is like and mfg biz, components and time.
you spend 10k a year going *pew pew* on a good year lmao
1. You are required to have a BATF license in order to manufacture and sell ammunition.
2. The core problem right now is that primers are unavailable even to manufacturers.
3. If you do not have an existing contract to purchase primers, get to the back of the line.
4. Lead is also hard to get nowadays thanks to government regulation.
5. The incoming Biden Administration has already stated it will be cracking down on online sales.
6. Manufacturing ammunition in quantity, in normal times, is a low margin business. You survive by buying bulk powder and then doing your own load development and pressure testing. You cannot make a profit if you are out buying retail-grade powder and using commercial loading data.
7. Quality control is critical. If you fuck up and someone is hurt, you will be sued into oblivion.
8. If your business plan is to be a fly-by-night ammo salesman, then no amount of "but I formed an LLC!" will save you from the courts; they will simply "pierce the corporate veil" and take everything you've ever owned.
Other than these issues, and maybe some more, it's not a bad idea, and plenty of people have succeeded. Good luck, OP.
/k/ here. You have no idea what you would be getting into.
>first and foremost, you need a license to make and sell ammo or you are committing a felony
>need heavy machinery to jacket and cast bullets en-masse
>need heavy machinery to mass produce cases
>need to make your own primers which requires precise machinery and highly regulated chemicals
>need to make your own powder considering the shortage of that, too which requires more regulated chemicals and a FUCKLOAD of trial and error to get the formula right
>all this to end up competing with big name ammo companies in as little as 2 years when the supply recovers
>also if some retard beats the shit out of his gun and happens to use your ammo to blow it up, you're getting sued
It's way too late to get into ammo manufacturing at this point. By the time you get production up and running, the shortage will be over.
>need to make your own powder
You're wrong here. While an outfit like Winchester might go that far, 90% of the industry just buys commercial lots of random powders and then does their own load development and pressure testing. Alliant doesn't turn every single batch of gunpowder into canister-grade, they sell most of it in multiton lots to ammo makers.
Nitrating cotton, washing it, mixing it with nitroglycerine, forming it, and coating it are all incredibly dangerous and require immense amounts of water for the washing step. Even the U.S. Army has had explosions (Holston Mountain ammo plant, just last year youtube.com
>Lead is also hard to get nowadays thanks to government regulation.
Dude, have you never read "De Re Metallica?"
Lead is simple as fuck to get your hands on, it's why the Romans used it for everything.
You just smelt down ore bearing rocks and most of what comes out is lead.
>make your own primers
And here, while this isn't really a thing either for most ammo manufacturers, THIS is what's needed right now.
Unfortunately, manufacturing primers is even more dangerous than manufacturing gunpowder, and arguably a lot more difficult too. You need to deal with metallurgy for the primer cups and anvils, chemistry for making the primer compound, and very tiny fast automated precision assembly. Plus, you can't do it in large volume at a single time because if you do and anything goes wrong, your entire building is a smoldering crater, instead of just the room that the final press is in.
My grandpa does it with his friend so it can’t be that difficult.
>hey, kid, one out of ten of these bullets are too large for the pistol so you have to smash it in the chamber before firing
>lol, idk which ones they are. It’s all in one giant bag of ammunition.
On a plus note, lead styphnate isn't that fucking hard to make, just toxic and tends to blow up if you sneeze on it. A little lead styphnate, a little powdered glass, wet mix WITHOUT BLOWING YOURSELF UP, dry it into pellets, and wa-la.
wat
You’re grandpa doesn’t make cases, rounds, primers and powder from scratch. He probably presses his own rounds and maybe even forms his own bullets with lead and a die, but he doesn’t make the cases, primers and powder.
Three steps closer than most retards ITT including me who can’t find buckshot to save my life.
for serious nigger
you can take rocks and make lead
fuck the gubmint

Biden will just ban ammunition. Good luck.
you cried for an orange man, didn't you?
All you need to do is go to cabelas or midway and buy a press. Cases are easy to find on eBay or elsewhere. Primers, powder and jacketed bullets are the real kicker, though I haven’t shopped for any of those in a while.
Nope I'm just apolitically aware of the direction of the us.
israel first, america last?
How about muzzle loaders, any easier to get what is required?
Rest in Power, based Sean
>Mfw my hometown is named "Galena"
>if you dislike biden you must like trump
Trump wouldnt/couldn't have made a difference either way. If you're a red or blue cheerleader for a bunch of shitheads that are all doing the same thing you are just a faggot at the end of the day. Faggot.
>>if you dislike biden you've probably been doing it for 2 years for the Israeli Trump campaign
the problem is upstream from cartridge assembly. everywhere is out of stock on primers, brass, powder, and projectiles.
What do muzzle loaders have to do with starting an ammo manufacturer? I would look it up on google. I know about reloading .308 Win and 7.5 X 55 mm. I know you can make your own black powder, but it’s going to be smokey as hell and very inefficient in it’s burn unless you have a chemistry background or hoo instructions.

Whats your point? The jews won a long time ago.
That I'm tired of hearing about Biden or Orange kikes and came here to hear about ammunition
>incoming Biden administration
Shit's coming out about fraud everyday, there was hearings about MI earlier that's pretty compelling along with other shit with dominion. We are looking at a Trump re-election with dems facing the firing squad.
apparently there won't be ammunition to fight the civil war when it comes
