>using dad's money to gamble
glad it worked out for you but it's nothing to brag about
Options are derivative assets though
Explain options to me, anons. What is being gambled upon?
In a nutshell: You're betting on the future price of an asset. There's always two people in an option agreement, one that bets on the price going up, and the other bets that it goes down.
So, basically it's a roulette black vs red?
Guess you could say that yeah. The key difference of futures and options is that futures obligate each party to transact while options give them the... option, to do so until the expiry date
How is betting ammount and time frame is being agreed upon?
>retards trying to understand options
The shit could also not move at all in which case both of the parties that bet on it going up or down get fucked. You can bet on the price not changing but I am a newfag can someone explain?
I'm not an options investor and I know very little about derivatives but I believe the issuer sets these things. And I think basically anybody can issue an option. Not sure.
Is it to late for BCRX?
About to drop 10k at market open in FOMO
Thanks, user.
You better find out about the things before you make any investments. Derivatives are a bit more complicated instruments than just stocks. Options can be used to hedge positions. Futures I wouldn't touch at all, only machines and turboautist short term analysts do those. Warrants I'm interested in though, look into those if you're a long term investor
Yeah, i'm sort of a new to the field + not really interested in high risk investments. I prefer tangible assets that you can hold on to if they fall short term.
So far so good though. +20% in 3 months, but it's more of a luck i guess. Can't say they were precisely calculated investments, kek. None of that "oh look, the curve looks like a boob" shit either, though.
If you really want to put in the work then learn about reading company balance sheets, MD&A's and earnings reports at least. In addition you should also understand the macro behind things a little, like when there's a bear/bull market in certain industries/fields.
*Still learning myself too, fucking hated it from the start when I made an investment and didn't know what I had just put my money into
What exactly is 'Theta gang'?
