Guys, we should genuinely rethink the idea of retirement. Why should your goal in life, after decades of hard work, be to quit your job, and sit in your house or in a nursing home and wait to die? Why not be productive until you cease to live? You know the old saying, you either use it or lose it. Retirement usually means somebody wants to quit working because they're tired of their profession, but if you work a job you enjoy, you'll be able to work forever. Just check out these centenarians who worked until death, and look at the impressive feats they accomplished. Seriously, guys, rethink your goals of wanting to save enough to become neets from passive income/savings or retiring and waiting to croak
Do not retire

Can't speak for everyone here, but for me retirement = never having to be an employee. I plan on continuing to have revenue streams beyond purely passive income.
Working per se is contrary to our soul inherent desire for freedom, be it freedom to wander around the world, be with your family, help the community, just staying inside eating chocolate or whatever . We are not meant to work but our society has evolved in a way that forces most people to do it
>Loren
that's the oldest woman I've ever seen
Loren is a male's name and not that uncommon among Scandi men. Not to be confused with Lauren.
MEN are meant to work, just on things that reward their SOUL
This factually based
Then it's not work, it's just using your freedom
yeah, this is a lazy nigger.
All I can say is that NEETing around was never the goal of "retirement" for me.
>if you work a job you enjoy, you'll be able to work forever.
Financial independence lets you take infitinite stabs at figuring out what this is for you, without having to consider how much you receive for it.
you're a lazy nigger or you're conflating work with a job
This, 'retiring' for me means never being beholden to another person to make ends meet anymore. It doesn't mean I'm just going to watch anime and cum in a sock for the next 70 years until I expire. It just means that my time is finally mine to do what I want with it. I presume I'd take up some kind of productive/creative hobby and follow it wherever it takes me, but I could do so wholeheartedly and knowing I'd never need to compromise with my vision just to accommodate some fucking shareholders or board of directors. I'll do the things I want to do and make the things I want to make, and the rest of the world doesn't like it it can go get fucked. That's what retirement means to me.
The meme john goodman clip is still relevant: youtube.com
>This, 'retiring' for me means never being beholden to another person to make ends meet anymore
This. If you must work for the benefit of others just to survive you're a fucking slave.
I have to NEET for at least a year to get out of the wagecuck mindset.
based post of the year. what are you holding m8?
running your own business at 80+ years old or working as a very senior member of management in a big company is tolerable. being a retail wagie at 80 is just sad.

I'm a peer reviewed researcher and writer. I'd rather spend all my time working on my projects because I find them infinitely more interesting.
If you don't have meaningful things you'd rather be doing outside work, you're probably an NPC.
die in a fire
Maybe, I just don't want to end up like my dad. Work until 70 to max out the SS then gets Alzheimers just a few years after retirement and starts ending up getting lost in random places like Winchester Indiana.
There's a bit of universal truth in what you just wrote there. We typically spend the best years of our lives working, not even to survive necessarily: we live in a cold machine that demands consumption at an exhausting level. It sucks resources effortlessly. The whole system is designed to keep you on your toes, looking for even more money. Whether it is taxes, increasing food bills, transport costs incurred from navigating giant cities, and so on, it just never ends. Industrialization just made life more complex and more expensive. And as a result, everything takes longer to do and usually consumes more than it is worth.

Consider as an example remote tribes or Polynesians before they met white men: they could build a house in a few days with self secured or group granted land. Primitive? Yes, but consider that westerners have turned that basic necessity into a life goal that takes literal years of wage slavery to acquire. We pay the most absurd amounts of money for something the people of yore made in a few days before moving on with their lives. And those shacks didn't suck money from them like some kind of parasite.
Western culture is all about consooming. It's so deeply embedded that it is nigh impossible to escape.
>imaginary jewish number (gdp) goes sideways or, G-D FORBID, down, and all hell breaks loose
Fun fact: GDP was call gross national product before we became globohomo so many moons ago.
Fun fact: Gross, means 12 dozen. And you thought base 10 was fun, good luck with the math
I want to be able to go to travel and learn artistic skills without having a 40+ hour/week job being a parasite on my time.
>Good luck with math
You're gay
go ahead then, do some base 12 math for me and convert our GDP into a number that regular people use.
