On one hand, they've been going nowhere but up for the past 5 years, and growth has only been accelerating, especially this year. But on the other hand, I've noticed many of the actual collectors cashing out because they're frustrated that their passion has become the internet's latest get rich quick scheme.
So on one hand, there are more and more investors every day getting in on this opportunity, which is good. But I fear the erosion of organic demand could have catastrophic consequences for the market long term. Im just not sure.
Who knows bruh i think i may sell mine but we will see depends what i can get
Aaron Sullivan
People said the same shit about baseball cards in the 80's. It's going to dip hard but long term it will be worthwhile. These aren't beanie babies, they are graded investments that have a ton of fanbase, just like baseball cards.

This board doesn’t know shit about cards, just DeFi scams. I’m doing very well on cards but it’s not even worth trying to talk to these knucledraggers about them
The fanbase eventually dies though so they aren't good generational investments
Brody Lopez
Yes but baseball cards were going nowhere but down for years until they started to recover in 2008 due to the recession driving people towards alternative assets. Even then, they weren't going up enough to go back to being attractive investment targets. That wasn't until 2016, when the rise of finance gurus on social media (and thus Rudy), created a new wave of trading card investors. I'm just worried we've approached euphoria at this point; I mean, you've literally got people comparing these to fine arts.
Dominic Fisher
The same of fine arts, though. There's a reason The Mafia were well known for 'collecting" art.
Easton Cruz
I could make an argument that cards fall in the "collectibles" category. So do fine arts in my opinion.
I agree these prices have risen too fast and may be in a bubble, but memelords keep buying the Charzards and posting about it on twitter. There are also a bunch of zoomers buying up the new generation of pokemon, so there could be another bubble in 20 years.
Who knows, but one thing is for certain: the dollar is a shitcoin and there is a massive exodus to leave the dollar for other assets. Even a cartoon on cardboard is a better investment than holding cash. The absolute state. This really is clownworld.
Jason Morgan
This This is why collectibles that require some connection to a brand aren't worth it There are far better collectibles to invest in, namely art or coins, if you want to have generational wealth
Jackson Garcia
Pokemon has been a hit in today's generation of kids as well. These aren't going away. Pokemon cards will be bigger than comic books were to boomers.
Logan Wilson
this is true, I sell cards and sell to children constantly. Pokemon is just Japanese disney shit at this point, it will evolve but never die.
kek I have digital chuck e cheese tokens, pokemon cards, MTG cards, gold coins worth more than my checking account and house at this point. It didn't have to be like this
Ian Walker
The invooster >diversifies >knows a good buy but plays it safe >always putting money into invoosting >never taking money out of invoosting >only speculative assets, no dividends
Robert Fisher
user if I didn't take fiat out of my speculative assets I would live in a cardboard box. Pokemon cards literally built my house.
Jaxon Ortiz
When crisis come - stamps will retain value, pokemon cards will not.
Jason Walker
We found the real tulips, buttcoin BTFO.
Henry Green
Thats pretty based. I hope i have some winners. Im gonna get my collection in about 2 weeks then probably sell it all
Zachary Fisher
Good luck user, you'll have some more funds for crypto at least.
Yeah I got into buying/selling pokemon and MTG to pay for college and never stopped. Stocked up massively on Pokemon when I saw MTG exploding in prices in 2014-2015 and here we are. Thanks consoomers.
Easton Martin
Can someone spoon feed an honest user? I have MTG cards from 1994 that have been played with and boxed for 25 years. Wat do?
Lincoln Nelson
If you have a monteized youtube channel, pull out a rare card, act all excited, and then burn it. You throw away a couple hundred bucks and make a thousand on ads. All you need is a clickbait title (you won't believe what we find at the end!)
Ryan Campbell
Yeah I'll help you real quick
First question - what color are the borders? black border is bette than white Second question - is the year written on the card visibly? If no dates written AND black border, congratulations, you're rich
That's unlikely though, so more nuance will be needed. First order of business is always identifying what set they're from though. Common ones from that era would be revised (white border, no date on artist credit line), fourth edition (white border + date = crap)
that's not my pic its from someones ebay listing. I personally detest Funkos but recognize that they have potential to make money.
Levi Turner
cards are only available in mint condition unless they are extremely rare or old
Carter Sanchez
valuable not available
Jackson Sullivan
Funkos are weird. No one likes them, but everyone invests in them.a
Owen Powell
>If no dates written AND black border, congratulations, you're rich Shit I have fucktons of old Magic cards like that! Is there a website that has the approx value of cards?
Josiah Miller
Except NO ONE likes Funkos, yet they are still considered great investments.
