7k in hospital bills sent to collections

I just had $7,000 worth of medical bills from my ER visit earlier this year sent to collections, despite the hospital telling me they would suspend all charge-offs until the pandemic was dealt with and despite me making monthly payments of $25 even though I was unemployed. I guess despite losing my job due to COVID that the pandemic is over now, hurray!

I'm so fucking done with this economy and system. Boomers want me to protest against Antifa faggots stealing muh election or whatever the fuck but I don't give a single shit if they are, this system they are so patriotic about hasn't done shit for my generation. Good luck expecting me to die on that hill to fight your battles, grampa.

My plan is to put money into BTC and hope they it moons in 2021, then cash it out to pay off my hospital bills. I literally have no idea what else I can do at this point, my state is locking down again and I don't even know if my old place of work will even exist anymore after this (I'm in the service industry). How long do you think it would take until collection agencies figure out to subpoena exchanges like Kraken or Celsius for crypto? How does that even work?

hit by a drunk driver

I'm fine now, thankfully

Grow suss tomatoes plants in Minecraft and sell it to your friendly neighbourhood taco vender. They are less likely to follow and break into your house.

Does this really work or is this an internet meme?

that is rage inducing

Just dont pay. Fucking collections just harass you. That's all they can do. They bought the debt for pennies. Fuck em.

idk i've always paid my debt
there's a few messages to take away from it but in terms of actual advice i'm pretty sure it's you just shouldn't pay the collection agency at all, if you don't acknowledge the debt after 7 years or something it gets written off, but it might be hard to get an apartment/house or loan during that time. or you can ask if they'll accept a few hundred dollars or whatever.

Don't pay it

Yours or driver at faults car insurance shouldve covered all, or almost all, of this

is this real?
americans dont have free state funded hospitals?

Second, don't pay. You made an agreement with the hospital, they broke said agreement - your agreement is not w/ the collections agency. Don't feel bad about it. Depends on where you are, but in some places you can have it dismissed based on verbal agreements (being legally binding). If you don't need your credit, I'd just straight up tell them, "Listen, I don't care, I don't need any new credit, and I had an agreement w/ the hospital that they broke. But to settle this I'll pay you $500. If not, I'll just let it go 7 years. Up to you" (this would be after you ensure neither yours nor driver at fault's car insurance covered it - but you'd have to have some really janky ass car insurance to not cover that small amount. gl user

Nope it's 3rd world tier medical system over there if you have no insurance.

>hit by a drunk driver
You need to get a lawyer and sue:
>The driver
>The driver's family
>His insurance
>The household or establishment he left drunk
>The hospital for harassment.

Seriously. Don't be a good person right now. Drunk drivers and the people who enable them should all be capped at the knee.

it's nothing personal, they have to sell your debt to a collections company in a certain amount of time to write it off or get their insurance to pay for it.

what the collections agency does is also not personal, they're just doing their job. If you don't have a job they'll give up pretty quick

they're not going to check your crypto portfolio or anything else. They probably won't even check your bank accounts. What you owe is very small, and they know you can't pay it.

Just don't pay retard they won't do anything to you

sue the shit out of that drunk driver.
the guy has to pay for your medical bills, not you.

I've tried, unfortunately. The guy who hit me was uninsured and had a warrant out for his arrest. He's still in prison right now and is probably going to die in there. He has no estate or any real assets to speak of, he was a drug dealer and never held down a job. I've tried barking up this tree, there's nothing there. I'm just fucked.

Does he have family? Was he coming from a bar when he hit you? You can blanket sue the fuck out of all of them.

They sent my $93 to collections and I’m never paying them a cent

I was told by a loan officer that medical debt doesn't factor into LTV calculations for gov't loans like FHA. I'm not even sure it affects your credit bigly.

why is the US such a shithole

Imagine fucking up your credit beyond repair for 93 dollars

>nothing personal
>t. jews hand
Based

>it’s nothing personal goy, just have to send you into debt

the absolute state of burgers
>gets hit by drunk driver
>has to pay $7k for ER visit
surely the majority of you don’t like the privatized healthcare system, right...?
I’m sorry to hear about your situation, fren. You’re absolutely being fucked rn. You should really sue the alcy dipshit

ah, fug
ok that’s already been discussed. That’s retardedly unjust desu. Surely there must be another way? You were the victim of a felony... why should you have to pay?

More like the state of insurance and hospital billing. In a private market before government got involved hospitals did this work at pennies on the dollar, now theyre going broke despite exorbitant fees because of the skimming insurance and property landlording jews and regulations

i plan to never go to the hospital again. i don't really care if i die

life is not worth living if it means i'll have a mediocre life because i blew all my money on medical bills

Dude, it's $7,000. They'll negotiate. You can pay over several years and maybe even get the total reduced. Medical care is expensive, no shit, grow up.

just don't pay the bills. i didn't have to for years.

they'll keep sending bills even after you pay them all. they'll find a way to suck money out of you

that's what they did to me. i stopped paying them

i am not getting the covid vaccine if it costs money

no doubt. What a joke...
To burgers reading, would you prefer to pay higher taxes for universal healthcare or would you rather opt for an actual privatized system that user was mentioning? I’d be curious to know which and why.
