Social studies is the study of how humans and society have shaped history. Economics and social studies requiere the interaction of humans. Science on the other hand doesn't need direct human participation, only the observations and logical conclusions our minds can reach.

It is the dismal science. Economics is a social science, and unlike more "pure" sciences, it cannot rely on actual experiments that produce A to B results. Rather, like most other social sciences, it has rely on the field of statistics to actually study its subject in a scientific approach. Unfortunately, even with statistics the real world and the uncertainty that always exists with human behavior often makes social sciences very tricky to be definite, especially compared to the other sciences where an experiment has a definite result.
