Video Game Collecting

Does anyone else collect video games? What's your collection worth?

yup, probably 1k total. want to work up those numbers in the future, though

I collected a bunch back in the day because I wanted to play them, but now I just use flashcarts and modded consoles to play everything. My collection is probably worth a ton now, everything seems to cost 3x as much as it did back in the day.

Buddy grades and resells. Makes a living.

Like damn, look at this. I don't know how much you could actually sell it for, but the listings are insane nowadays.

Another one I have

I flipped alot from speculation
Before game collecting was a thing, I purchased a pallet from a seller with leftover product of games 3.50. each new sealed product. Flipped them 5 years later for about 20 each
Now any sealed product will retain around that value. Speculating will be more profitable then collecting at this point unless your investing in sealed product that the record is known how many are sealed. Anything else is speculation not investing. Because as soon as you say finally I got a new sealed copy of such and such of game. A storage locker with cases of those games get found and filled the market and your collection is worthless. This is not a trade to invest in, be careful
Only buy things you absolutely love.

Yeah I bought that for $100 and that for $300 several years ago. I have a few Saturn games I still want but I really just wouldn't go there right now.

Yeah desirable Saturn games were always expensive, but it's still surprising looking at them now. More than that though, it's weird how what I'll see what I thought of as relatively common SNES games now go for $150-200 instead of $20-50. Last period I was collecting was like 2006-2010 for reference.

I don't mess around with sealed games that much, but my collection's value went from $13,000 to over $20,000 during the pandemic

Is there a site you're using for that, or do you track the total yourself?

Nevermind, found it. Pricecharting.com.

Do any of you think Playstation games will run up like this one day?

I did but then I grew up and stopped playing with toys and thinking penny plastic stuff was a good investment. Literally going to trade in some games tomorrow from my garage that I just want to get rid of.

I think some of them definitely will

Funny, I just sold all my vidya for Fuse.

no because I am not a NIGGER. NIGGGERRRRRRR. I AM NOT A NIGGER. BLACKUUUUU PERSONAUUUUUUU. nigger I am NOT. No thank you sir I am not BLACK therefore I don't need your DANCING MONKEY ENTERTAINMENT DEVICE. I am okay with reading my Russian novels and complex anime. Please refrain from asking in future.

No, but videogame collectors have made me some nice profits.

I haven't played videogames in years, but I've learned the market just from buying and selling.

No im an adult now

I unironically probably have like $50k+ worth in my collection. I have many SNES classics and rpgs fully boxed with instructions and shit that I bought for $5 at pawn shops back in highschool and now they’re worth like $200-300 a pop or more. And this is just a very small fraction of my collection. No, I’m not autistic either but sometimes I do feel like it with how much fucking shit I have

I have some old N64 classics (goldeneye, banjo kazooe, zelda, mario kart etc). Are they worth anything? Or old Gameboy shit?
It's all probably covered in dusk and with no boxes. Been pretty close to putting them in the dumpster a few times.

Not worthless but you really need boxes to get the most for your money. Collectors don’t collect loose cartridges, they want the full package

Damn onions faggots, just buy my useless shit.
I might try to start shilling loose cartridges as better.

Loose Nintendo carts are still in high demand but you won't get loads of money for them

Like how do they know the box isn't empty of the game isn't some random cartridge with the correct sticker? I have heard this is extremely common. Where a loose cartridge you would be able to tell from the wear and tear that it is authentic. And you can pop it in without losing a shitload of money from cracking a box open.
Actually this seems like a huge fucking scam waiting to be busted open.
Someone should really let these guys know this.

Of course you can still make a little money off them but nothing super crazy like you said. Most of them probably go like 5x more if you have the box with it

Antique dealer here, I have some some insane price changes in the last 10 years.

Paid for part of school selling games, you could buy a NES for $10 with games and sell for $30-40. Eventually the price went to roughly $100 in my area, same with SNES and N64.

The games went insane around 2015, NES and SNES have dropped a bit (unless CIB, sealed, graded, then price has jumped)

Its mostly speculation at this point

I’m not talking brand new sealed, it can still be used as long as it’s in decent condition. eBay pics will show the cartridge, the box, the instructions, etc. to show that everything is there

Just pirate. Imagine spending thousands of dollars on video games over your life.

Nah m8 I hear this is a big black market. Be careful, only buy loose cartridges.

Fakes are still pretty obvious. It's still not worth it to fake games properly unless they're worth thousands of dollars

Dealer here again,

If anyone has any questions about reselling/hunting feel free to let me know. Have some good stories if wanted

Does anyone else collect funkopops? What's your collection worth?

Not true

I don't even know what you're trying to say

...

Collecting dildos is less gay than funkopops

>It's still not worth it to fake games properly unless they're worth thousands of dollars
sold some old n64 games, one buyer asked a bunch of questions.... aparently knock of fakes of these retro catridges is happening, and for the ones that sell for around $80-100, they make em for a couple bucks cheap in asia then move them for top dollar to onions gaymer fag collectors here

Yeah but chink repros are obvious. And you can open a cartridge up to be certain.

yea for buyers that know they can tell, but you can imagine how a few suckers / scams will fall through by those new to it
