Ethnically theres little difference, celtic/viking mutts but they have significant less germanic DNA, that makes up 60% of most English excluding Cornwall. The countries geography is about the same, rolling grassy hills and heather tundras, but we have very different world outlooks and thus a socital culture difference.
Ireland makes me sad though, more than any other European country during these modern times. Fought for 100 years to secure independance, a right to self-determinate their future only to throw it away not 20 years later and join in with the rest of the wests ethnic genocides. At least England/France had the Empires as an excuse, Ireland doesnt have any reason to do this.

You neglect to mention why that is though, the southeast of England actually has had the highest geneflow and diversification by far in the entire British Isles, the further north and west you go the worse the diversification gets to the point where they're borderline inbred and have been successively breeding to the point of Ashkenazi tier genetic closeness for thousands of years. We're, for the most part, inbred island apes. It can mostly be tied to R-L21. The higher this is in concentration in a region, the worse it is in terms of civilization and wealth and every other measure of greatness.
