Its all about money. Chrysoprase is the Roman favorite. Also helps "get sheckles" according to the metaphysical crowd. Jade is much more expensive, with imperial Burma jade being tens of thousands per carat. The main thing is that a bright green cab simply looks nice, fancy, and less gay than a lot of other colored or cut stones. All about making sheckles.

how much is nephrite worth? I found two fist sized pieces of nephrite in Flyaway Gulch near Bagby,CA where there is a known Jade deposit

I'm interested to see what research turns up with some of the other pics, but Hanks ring is clearly a fucking class ring you retards. I'd bet every dollar I have that a) his birth stone is this color, or b) that his high school's colors include red.

Jade is only valuable because chinks cause such a high demand. It's such a soft stone on the Mohs scale and it's not a light refracting stone so I don't understand the appeal.

Nephrite can be worth a good amount, or not much at all depending on the quality. If it has gold flecks in it and is clear candy apple green...you can buy a house with it. If its non clear and only modestly beautiful then maybe a few hundred bucks. If you slab it up and cab it, more. If you set those cabs and sell it to rich folks with too much money, can be turned into a lot. Buying rough nephrite is not that hard to do though for jewelers.

Haha I have little knowledge of the metaphysical side of all stones. Topaz from utah is pretty but tends to turn clear over time from sun exposure. The paki stuff keeps its color but was mined by slaves, so its a "bloody" stone if you care about that.

Just enjoy whatever stones you like. If it fits and she likes it, enjoy. Do not let some hippie shit cause you to buy or not buy a stone.

Not at all. Its just SiO2. You should not consume rocks since they do not have many nutrients but otherwise quartz is inert. If you cut it though use a wet system since inhaling Si can cause silicosis.

What about the metal and the shape?

18k gold will be the most "rich" looking while 14k is still very nice and almost affordable. Silver tarnishes so you need a polishing cloth or else it will look dirty in no time. Silver is much cheaper of course. Anything else is a meme, white gold, platinum, rhodium etc. As for shape/style, thats whatever fits you best and is comfortable. I recommend trying on some different styles and see what you enjoy. Everyone is different. A nice thick half round band is most comfy imho though.
