Medical science has greatly improved the ability to prevent death by childbirth but it isn’t only that. They had children earlier and it’s a medical fact that younger teens are at a much higher risk of dying from childbirth. The ideal age for a woman to have a child is 24-25 because physically they are more capable but also about as level headed as you can expect a woman to be. An 18 year old might be fit to give birth physically but an 18 year old woman is still 12 mentally.
