Can only happen financially, no European soldier would be ok fighting another European country together with Turkey. Also, I would assume most of that aid was meant to help Turkey in its efforts in Syria. I guess we thought we would rather have Erdogan keeping his country somewhat stable and defending it, than having every flying piece of shit from the chaos in Syria make its way to Turkey. That would be a defensible argument in my opinion, if it weren't for Erdogan's hostile stance towards the EU, Turkey's constant encroachment on Greek airspace, the (relatively) dilapidated states of our own militaries, and the fact that Europe, the US, and Israel (especially the US) are largely responsible for instigating the so-called Arab Spring in the first place.
