Well they were both right and wrong at the same time. The reason they had to show separate beds was because any implication of sex was verboten. If you really wish to go down into it, females form a core of any human group due to their reproductive function. Males are just doing things layered on top of biological existence of the species, such as creating the economy, designing social institutions, upkeeping civil order, maintaining civilization. Women don't have to think about collective interest and they don't.

Women are a lot more anecdotal, less capable to engage in abstract thinking and more likely to act only in their own narrow self-interest. Historically, it's men who had to form cohesive groups in order to survive. Males have broader concept of self-interest, they're going to pursue interest of their group as a necessary consequence of being reliant upon that group, on the success of that group to compete with other groups. Because if some other group wipes you out, your women will still have a place in the camp of your rival, whereas you will lose everything and die. Women have less incentive to care about the collective over individual.

What’s it like living with a woman? I’ve been alone my whole life, put up for adoption at birth and in and out of foster homes until I was 18. I’ve never had a gf that lived with me out side of staying a night or two at a time. I can’t even fathom the idea of having to wake up next to someone, caring about their wants or needs, or compromising over stuff in the house. How does that even work?
