Siege is a popular one here I think, Turner diaries too, but I'm more of a Heinlein guy myself..starship troopers is one I'd 100% recommend. Winds of war by Herman Wouk is a decent read too, I just finished a few weeks back and very much enjoyed it.

Lovecraft - At the Mountains of Madness. About man's refusal to let things beyond our understanding alone. It's quite long and dense prose, maybe not the best Lovecraft to start with, but still one of his best.
London - To Build a Fire. A short story about man's hubris and again lack of respect for things we do not understand.

I thought of another one: Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. A meteor shower blinds everyone on earth and plants start attacking people, but the novel is really about the almost immediate breakdown of society and the warring tribes that form.
