I grew up in a Catholic household with community values. When I was around 14 or 15 I started volunteering with the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, the Canadian arm of Caritas international. I was bright and curious, and went into our fundraising and awareness campaigns with gusto. For the first couple of years the campaigns were regarding Monsanto's GMO seeds, and our fundraising efforts (as far as I was aware) were going to help poor farmers defend themselves in law suits against Monsanto when they would try and sue them for having Roundup Ready onions beans on their farms adjacent to a Monsanto farm in order to gain legal title on the farm because the farmers in Nicaragua and shit have no money to pay if they lose in court. It seemed like a positive and reasonable choice, and so did some of the other campaigns we worked on at my local chapter for the next couple of years. What really changed me and started redpilling me was when I joined the organization at the national level as a youth rep for my region, and I started to become a part of the decision making processes and got a deeper look into where our money was actually going, and where the campaign materials were coming from. I started asking questions that other people in the organization didn't like because the answers were uncomfortable (for example, we as a Catholic organization were sending money to "women's charities" overseas that were supporting abortion rights). It was pretty organic from there, I simply did more research and asked more questions about the concept of "social justice" and the rest, as they say, is history.
