I was a LEO (technically) for a couple years. Basically a park ranger, but for urban/suburban parks. It was a decent job, but no room for advancement. Went back to school for business, not sure it was worth it.

Yeah. I have a Bachelor's Degree. Some departments require it, some require an associates, some require 60 credit hours from a college, and others require a high school diploma. I work for a massive city and mine required 60 credit hours, I get paid a little more for having a Bachelor's. I also know some cops here that have a Masters and they get paid more. I work in a very big city, I hear everything you can imagine. I even hear it from some of the black cops I work with. And I want to let it be known, the black cops I work with here, are fed the fuck up. All of our hands have been tied behind our back the last few weeks. I do what I can to write the wrongs in the world but make no mistake this system is corrupt and unfair. Despite what Black people bitch about, it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with money and power. If you are poor you’re fucked. But if you have money for a good attorney or you have friends or contacts in the prosecutors office, politics or who work in the law-enforcement field you will most likely be cut a huge break (maybe not even get charged).

I should clarify that my sympathy lies with people who get arrested for minor things (misdemeanors) but who are otherwise good people.
That is the one good thing working for a sheriffs department rather than a police department, you are giving leeway in charging people. Let’s say I pulled someone over because they didn’t use their turn signal and I found out they had a suspended license because they hadn’t paid their court fines on a speeding ticket from 2 years ago. Instead of being a dick and towing their car, if they’re polite and telling me that they have no choice because they have to get back-and-forth to work I would let them call some family members to come down and drive the car away. Of course you know this person is going to continue driving back-and-forth to work with a suspended license, but they’re generally poor people just trying to get by. How does it help them get back on their feet if I tow their vehicle which will cost them $300 to retrieve?

Why not hire more Sheriffs and deputies instead of creating a Police force.

US Marshals are a government agency. I've worked with them a few times. Mainly they are tracking down fugitives. They are the only competent government agency I've worked with. FBI faggots in this city are scared little boys and routinely fuck things up.
I'll never forget 2 years ago while serving a warrant. It was a joint task force, and they had a few POs from my district helping along. We go in the house and everything went smooth. This one guy was cuffed up, and I decided to check him again before I put him in the car. Found a gun on him. I asked who searched him, and this one FBI new kid, all proud said "I did!". On top of me berating him right then, his Supe plus mine started going after him right then.
